The Daily News Golden Gloves amateur boxing tournament has been an institution in New York City for more than three quarters of a century. At the height of the tournament’s popularity, the Golden Gloves – which still holds its finals at The Theater at Madison Square Garden – held the attention of New York sports fans from the end of the football season until the beginning of baseball’s spring training.
